ED
ED, the recurrent or persistent inability to achieve or maintain an erection in order for satisfactory sexual intercourse to occur, is an issue for more than 30 million American men (1 in 5). The incidence of ED rises with age; it’s seen in 30% of 30-year-olds, 40% of 40-year-olds, 50% of 50-year-olds, etc.
There are two major causes of ED: psychogenic, caused by emotional stress or psychiatric diseases (10-50% of all cases) and organic, caused by vascular, neurologic, endocrine or other physical diseases (50-80% of all cases). For the majority of impotent men, ED has both a psychological and organic basis.
